Planting for the microclimate

Along with the remodelling of the garden's layout, in conjunction with the clients we redefined the garden's purpose.

The clients are keen gardeners and have undertaken their own replanting, using herbaceous perennials that are suited to the maritime microclimate. The old layout is shown on the right.

The garden has taken on a crisper, cleaner look and the removal of old features has resulted in a greater feeling of spaciousness.

The photograph at the lower left is the garden of another of our clients in the same area, showing that even hardier plants can achieve a lush display.
