Designing for low maintenance

The formal area within the pleached lime Basilica makes extensive use of box hedges for the edging of the planting areas of the parterre. This is a relatively low maintenance method of keeping the lines crisp. Within the boxes, plants with good ground cover are used to suppress weeds.

Tree spacing in the grassed areas is such that wider mowers can be used for the entire area.
